Last week, our partner organization, the European Muslim Leaders Majlis (EULEMA), hosted a joint Iftar event at the European Parliament, accompanied by a discussion on Article 17. The gathering was graciously hosted by European Parliament Vice-President Antonella Sberna and attended by several Members of the European Parliament, as well as EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner.

The event focused on advancing the spirit of Article 17 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU), which promotes open, transparent, and regular dialogue between European institutions and religious communities. In this spirit, the evening brought together leaders from different faith traditions to share a meal and reaffirm their commitment to cooperation, mutual respect, and constructive engagement in European public life.

The event was organized by Imam Yahya Pallavicini, a member of the Board of the MJLC. Chief Rabbi Moshe Lewin, also a member of the MJLC Board, participated in the gathering alongside MJLC member and Chief Rabbi of Brussels, Chief Rabbi Albert Guigui, supporting both the joint Iftar and the broader goal of strengthening Article 17 dialogue through interreligious collaboration.

By bringing together policymakers and faith leaders in such a meaningful setting, the evening served as a powerful reminder that dialogue, partnership, and shared values remain essential to building inclusive and cohesive societies across Europe.
